I have a love/ hate relationship with MySpace. I love it because it’s a great promotion tool. I hate it because the site has too many technical problems.
For example, the network gets completely jammed up after 3pm (the time the kiddies get out of school)… It’s so ridiculously slow during this time that you can’t even navigate through the site. You would think MySpace would step up and solve this problem… of course they haven’t yet.
The other thing that irritates me to no end is all the crap people load into their profiles. C’mon people is it really necessary to load 20 YouTube videos on your MySpace page???? I have a 6mbps internet connection and I still run into problems loading pages. Also why do people insist on uploading these huge image files as backgrounds… Again even with my super fast internet connection I find my self waiting.
The other beef I have with MySpace is their search feature. It’s poor at best. You know exactly what I’m talking about if you’ve ever tried to search for something on MySpace. When you search for something you get exactly what you weren’t searching for. For example I did a seach for Leonardo DiCaprio’s MySpace page and found a bunch of teenage girls profiles that mentioned him.
Social networks like MySpace are in their infancy. Hopefully they will work out the kinks and optimize the users experience. Until then I will continue my love-hate relationship with MySpace.
Where is the publicity for The Departed movie??? You would think a Martin Scorsese movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, and Jack Nicholson would get a lot more attention. I saw a trailer a few weeks back but that’s about it. I’m no expert on marketing Hollywood blockbuster movies but I think Warner Brothers needs to get to work. Even the official ‘The Departed’ Myspace page only has a 126 friends. Does anyone know why this film isn’t getting more publicity????
Martin Scorsese seems to really like working with Leonardo DiCaprio. Is he the next DeNiro? or is that an unfair comparison? Personally I like DiCaprio and think he is one of the best actors out there. I wasn’t sure if he could pull off playing the role of Howard Hughes in The Aviator but he was fantastic. Should Scorsese continue using DiCaprio? Who else would you like to see Marty work with?
Sad news from Australia… Steve Irwin, the famous ‘Crocodile Hunter’, was killed Monday while swimming with stingray’s in Cairns.
Ironically, Irwin was in Cairns filming a documentary about the oceans deadliest creatures.
The stingray’s barb went through his chest and reportedly into his heart. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Tasmania police.
I honestly can’t say I was shocked when I heard the news… the only thing that surprised me was that it was a stingray that had killed him and not a crocodile or venomous snake.
Steve Irwin will definitely be missed.
RIP Crocodile Hunter
Martin Scorsese’s next big project is ‘The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt’. Leonardo DiCaprio will star as Teddy Roosevelt. The movie is scheduled for 2008.

I’m kind of surprised that this movie isn’t getting more attention… What’s the deal Warner Brothers????
